Characteristics
Plant
firmly attached to substratum by well formed disc. Frond 10-30 cm
long, ramiformed; ramifications irregualrly dichotomous, shape of
thallus very variable, compressed and in some more or less terete;
thallus below the furcations broadened out, cuneate and always compressed,
the broadest part up to 1.5 - 2.5 cm; elsewhere the width of segments
about 5 mm.Hairs abundant, ends of branches somewhat broader upward.
utricles of variable sizes, 1150µ long 450µ broad; gametangia
270µ long, 90µ broad.
